How Not To Clean Gutters

By Patrick Juma, Sep 21, 2017

The photos below illustrate a couple of things: 1. These are normal people cleaning gutters; presumably, home owners who care for their property. 2. They all have suspended their thinking or they are unable/unwilling to spend the time/money necessary to do the cleaning safely. 3. They all show how far one will go to clean their gutters despite the risks. This makes me feel sad and strangely exhilarated. I’m sure you’ll experience a similarly thrilling level of discomfort. Hold Your Breath!

It is naturally dangerous to climb on to the roof to clean or repair your gutters. Statistics show that more than 40 000 people are injured annually due to a fall from a ladder. For your own safety, it is smart to hire a professional contractor to get the job done safely.

Gutter cleaning should be a regular part of overall home maintenance because leaves and other debris accumulate inside them all year round. This presents a constant challenge that requires immediate removal because it doesn’t take much debris to clog the gutters. To sustain gutters’ peak level of efficiency, you might need to clean them as often as they get clogged.
